
Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Six-Time WWE Wrestling Champion, Dies of Cardiac Arrest at 71

Clearwater, Florida (July 25th, 2025)– Terry Gene Bollea, the six-time world wrestling champion known as Hollywood Hulk Hogan, died at home of cardiac arrest in the 1000 block of Eldorado Avenue of Clearwater Beach, Florida, at age 71.
The movie Rocky III Hogan appeared in as Thunderlips, which jump-started his movie acting and television commentating career, and promoter Vince McMahon turning the Worldwide Wrestling Federation from a Northeastern regional circuit to a national and worldwide multi-billions dollar industry made Hogan famous and larger than life for decades until his passing.
Fans made ‘Hulkamania’ a national pastime, making Hogan in his red and yellow garb perhaps the most famous wrestler of his generation and all-time. His choreographed matches with Andre the Giant, especially their 1987 Wrestlemania III bout at Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan, remain legendary. His wrestling match with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. He continued on Ted Turner’s championship wrestling, then Vince McMahon’s WWE circuit as part of the New World Order with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Hogan later wrestled for TNA/Impact and numerous other promotions.
Hogan’s scandals included a 1985, incident with actor Richard Belzer after Hogan placed Belzer in a chokehold at the star’s request. Belzer passed out, suffered a head injury, and sued Hogan. Nearly a decade later, Hogan testified in the Federal steroid trafficking trial against Vince McMahon. In 2012, a clip from a sex tape involving Hogan and Heather Clem was published online by Gawker. Hogan sued Gawker, and after years of lengthy litigation, Hogan reached a $31 million settlement in his favor.
Hogan spoke in favor of Donald Trump at the 2024 Republican National Convention. Hogan owned and operated a memorabilia shop in Florida. Hogan also owned a beer company, Real American Beer, and was in the process of launching a freestyle wrestling company, Real American Freestyle, with his former wrestling colleague Eric Bischoff.
Hogan is survived by his third wife, Sky Daily, whom he married in 2023, and two children, Brooke and Nick. Hogan was married twice previously.
