Bethlehem, PA (August 5th, 2023)– In the main event of a King’s Promotions nine bout Showtime ShoBox: The Next Generation card on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Wind Creek Events Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, rising D.C. super featherweight prospect Jordan ‘Shortdog’ White landed a dramatic one punch pinpoint counter left hook to the chin through the upraised guard of previously undefeated Eridson Garcia, and immediately knocked him out on his back in the first round.
White, now 15-1 with 11 knockouts, Washington, D.C., training out of Houston, Texas, turned professional at 18 years old, and boxed through the Coronavirus Pandemic through events with nobody in attendance. A regional American Boxing Federation title belt was displayed by promoter Marshall Kauffman as being at stake in this bout at the prefight weigh-in.
Now age 25, White endeavored to make a statement. Garcia’s low crouching style at times, moving in with a low right, seemed to provide an opening of opportunity for White, who had to time the opening just right to close the show versus Garcia, now 17-1 with 11 knockouts, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, whose record was padded with limited opposition opponents in the Dominican Republic, Mississippi and Texas.
White knocked Garcia down and out on his back at 1:57 of the first round. Garcia’s eyes were glassy and his right hand moved up and down, while down and out, ending the show.
On the undercard, 11-0-1 Reading, Pennsylvania super featherweight Julian Gonzalez scored the best win of his career, an eight round decision win over the previously undefeated 8-1 Johnny Spell of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by scores of 79-73, 78-73, and 78-74.
