Los Angeles, CA (July 14th, 2023)– Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney , 30-0 with 15 knockouts, Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested and jailed Thursday night after midnight, July 13, 2023, in Los Angeles, California, after leaving the swank Catch L.A. Nightclub, after a routine traffic stop revealed an illegal semi-automatic handgun after the traffic police observed Haney’s vehicle make an illegal lane change, and well as a failure to use the turn signal.

Haney, coming off his ninth consecutive win in a regional or world title bout, a controversial and close 12 round unanimous decision win over former world champion Vasyl Lomachenko, was not the driver of the vehicle stopped by police. After Haney and his security entourage got out of the vehicle, the semi-automatic weapon was observed inside the vehicle, and since Haney is the registered owner of the vehicle, and since no person at the scene claimed ownership of the gun, Haney was charged with felony gun possession.

Los Angeles, California local jail records indicate Haney was officially released at 8:12 A.M. Thursday morning, July 13, 2023, after posting 35 thousand dollars of bail. Haney is scheduled to return to the Los Angeles court for a hearing with his legal counsel next month. It should be noted all arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Fingerprints on the weapon now in police possession should reveal who brought the gun into the car, and / or who handled it, which could be a factor if and when the case goes to trial in the near future. The felony arrest has put the career of Haney, and his desire to fight Teofimo Lopez next, on hold indefinitely until his legal issues are resolved.
