San Pancho, Mexico (January 4th, 2022)– The 2023 New Year’s holiday vacation in Mexico, has, for the world of MMA, been a rocky road. First, UFC President Dana White was caught on video slapping his wife Anna in a San Cabo Lucas Bar Nightclub, an altercation The Whites now admit was fueled by alcohol consumption. Unfortunately, the MMA news from Mexico just got worse.

Now, former UFC and Bellator MMA welterweight fighter Phil ‘New York Bad Ass’ Baroni, age 46, 16-19 with eleven knockouts, Long Island, New York, American Kickboxing Academy, has been arrested in San Pancho, Mexico, and has been charged with murdering his girlfriend. Baroni has been officially charged with homicide by the Mexican authorities, and is being held at Municipal Administrative Court of Valle de Banderas jail. An autopsy is pending regarding the official cause of death.

According to a report from the Mexican Tribuna De La Bahia newspaper, Baroni called police to a home he shared with his partner (whose name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin), and claimed the two had gotten into a fight after she admitted to cheating on him. Baroni, in a fit of jealous rage, threw her into a shower wall where the woman impacted her head. Baroni said he then carried her back to a bed, where she lost consciousness. That’s when Baroni contacted the authorities.

The official police report from the Policia Estatal Turistica said the police found the female victim naked on a bed with no vital signs with multiple marks of beatings, including bruises on her face and body. Photos taken by the police show bruising from Baroni’s fists.
