
Thomas LaManna and Rising Star Promotions Present Nine Bout WBO Card at Boardwalk Hall Atlantic City This Weekend

Atlantic City, NJ (August 17th, 2022)– Thomas LaManna and Rising Star Promotions will present an exciting nine-bout card of professional boxing at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday evening, August 20, 2022, Boardwalk Boxing, in conjunction with the Atlantic City Sports Commission and Showboat Hotel. The card will feature junior middleweight Thomas LaManna versus 61-bout veteran Saul ‘La Fiera’ Roman, and Emmanuel Rodriguez versus Frank Gonzalez for the vacant World Boxing Organization Latino Bantamweight title, in the two featured 10-round co-main events.
LaManna, 31-5-1 with 13 knockouts, Millville, New Jersey, will face rugged veteran Roman, 46-15 with 38 knockouts, Tijuana, Mexico. LaManna is predicted to win by 10 round unanimous decision. Rodriguez, 11-0 with six knockouts, Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, is predicted to win by sixth round or seventh round stoppage over Florida’s Frank Gonzalez, 9-2 with four knockouts.
Undefeated California super lightweight 7-0 Kurt Scoby will be featured in one of the three six round bouts on the undercard and is predicted to win by decision. Undefeated Tennessee welterweight Avious Griffin is favored over 4-3-1 Christopher Hatley of Little Rock, Arkansas. 7-1-1 featherweight prospect John Leonardo of Englishtown, New Jersey, is favored by decision over 19-15 seasoned veteran Raul “El Ciclon” Chirino of Miami, Florida.
Four bouts of four rounds duration will open the Atlantic City boardwalk card. Undefeated 3-0 bantamweight Jose Nieves of Woodbridge, New Jersey, will open the card and is predicted to win by decision over 1-0 Juan Sequeira of Nicaragua. 0-5 Tavaris Smith of Toledo, Ohio, inactive for three years, will face debuting Justin ‘Time’ Figueroa, the 2021 amateur New Jersey Diamond Gloves champion and Carolina Gloves champion. 4-1 cruiserweight Paul Bamba of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, is favored to win by second-round knockout over 1-4 Derrick Vann of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In his last bout in June 2022, Bamba scored an eight-round decision win over 42-bout veteran and former middleweight contender Dionisio Miranda. Finally, 3-0 flyweight prospect Anthony Johns of Newark, New Jersey, is favored by second-round knockout or stoppage over 18-bout veteran Jerrod Miner of Philadelphia.
