Return To Greatness! Don King Promotions WBC WBA Ohio Card Preview and Weights
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Warren, Ohio (January 29th, 2022)– Don King Promotions will present an exciting Pay-Per-View six bout card of welterweight, middleweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight championship boxing tonight entitled “Return To Greatness”, Saturday, January 29, 2022, at W.D. Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio.
In the co-main event, regular World Boxing Association World Heavyweight champion Trevor Bryan, 21-0 with 15 knockouts, Schenectady, New York, will defend his title in a scheduled 12 rounder against challenger Jonathan Guidry, 17-0-2, Houma, Louisiana. Six of Guidry’s opponents had winning records when he fought them. The match speaks for the difficulty of finding available opponents during the Pandemic, and the opportunities some fighters are getting which they would not normally get. Bryan is predicted to win by knockout in nine rounds or less. British heavyweight contender Daniel Dubois is calling out Bryan if he retains his WBA title for Bryan’s next defense.
In the other co-main event, southpaw Ilunga Junior Makubu, 28-2, 25 knockouts, Johannesburg, South Africa, by way of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will defend his World Boxing Council World Cruiserweight title on neutral territory against World Boxing Council Silver Cruiserweight title holder Thabiso Machunu, 23-5 with 13 knockouts, Cato Ridge, South Africa, in a rematch of their May 2015 bout won by Makabu by eleventh round knockout in Durban, South Africa.
On the undercard, southpaw Johnnie Langston, 9-3 with three knockouts, Sarasota, Florida, will fight Nick Kisner, 22-5-1 with six knockouts, Baltimore, Maryland, for the vacant NABA Cruiserweight title in a scheduled 10 rounder.
