
Christmas Tragedy! Heavyweight Danny “Smooth” Kelly Killed in Road Rage Incident

Baltimore, Maryland (December 26th, 2021)– Maryland heavyweight prospect Danny “Smooth” Kelly Jr., age 30, was killed on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 25, 2021, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, in what authorities are investigating as a possible road rage incident. The death was first reported on Fox Sports.
Kelly was driving his girlfriend and three children when a suspect’s vehicle pulled up to the driver side of Kelly’s vehicle and opened fire, killing him. It appears his family inside the vehicle was miraculously uninjured.
Kelly, 10-3-1 with nine knockouts, Clinton, Maryland, turned pro in August 2012 with a first-round knockout of Orion Bolds. Kelly lost an eight-round decision to then 12-0 Adam Kownacki at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in January 2016, the best known name on his record. Kelly’s final ring appearance, before the Coronavirus Pandemic hit, was a second-round stoppage of Nick Kisner at Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, Maryland, in October 2019.
