Las Vegas, NV (September 24th, 2021)– Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion and MMA Megastar Jon Jones was arrested by Las Vegas Metro PD on Friday morning, September 24, 2021, and charged with battery domestic violence, and injuring and tampering with a vehicle, according to source @ESPN.
Jones, age 34, 36-1 with one No Contest, 10 knockouts and six submissions, Rochester, New York, affiliated with Jackson-Wink MMA, has been arrested on a number of separate occasions in the past decade, most notable a hit-and-run accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, back in 2015. Jones was arrested in March 2020 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, yet again, and charged with aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, negligent use of a firearm, possession of an open container, and driving with no proof of insurance. Jones pled out to the DWI charge.
Jones has not fought in UFC in over a year due to a contractual dispute. He relinquished his UFC light heavyweight championship in August 2020, when the UFC stripped Jones of his light heavyweight championship for conduct policy violations. UFC head Dana White is unlikely to consider reinstating Jones to fight in the UFC again in light of the new charges, until such time as the most recent charges are resolved. White was rumored to be attempting to put together a comeback fight for Jones in 2021 against Israel Adesanya.
