IBF Flyweight Champ Sunny Edwards Injures Ankle, London Title Defense Postponed

London, UK (September 7th, 2021)–
According to promoter Frank Warren, International Boxing Federation World Flyweight champion Sunny “Showtime” Edwards has an injured ankle, which will postpone his scheduled title defense this Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Copper Box Arena in Hackney London, United Kingdom, on a BT sport telecast.

Sunny Edwards, 16-0 with four knockouts, Croyton, London, United Kingdom, was scheduled to fight Filipino challenger Jayson “Smasher” Mama, 16-0 with nine knockouts, General Santos City, Philippines.

It was to be the first defense of the title Edwards won at York Hall Bethnal Green on April 30, 2021, by 12 round unanimous decision over then defending champion Moruti Mthalhane of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
