Michael Seals, Alonzo Butler, Anthony Wright and Mateusz Masternak Lead Final August 2021 Comebacks

Friday August 27, 2021 to Sunday, August 29, 2021 featured a several significant successful comeback attempts in the final boxing weekend of August 2021.

Former light heavyweight contender Michael Seals, 25-3 with 19 knockouts, Fairburn, Georgia, won his first bout in almost two years, a first round stoppage at 1:20 of the first round over Jose Antonio Abreu, 14-9 with eight knockouts, La Romana, Dominican Republic, at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, Atlanta, Georgia, on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Abreu won 13 of his first 14 pro bouts, but has only won one of his last ten bouts against better opposition. Abreu beat a 14-2 fighter in Ohio in 2017. Abreu, who has been knocked out six times since 2017, only lasted 100 seconds against Seals, a former WBC USNBC Cruiserweight title holder.

Former World Boxing Council USNBC Heavyweight champion Alonzo “Bo Zo” Butler won his third comeback in 18 months. Butler, age 41, 34-3-2 with 25 knockouts, Chattanooga, Tennessee, won an eight round decision over Brandon Spencer, 9-20-3 with six knockouts, August, Georgia, at crown Reef Resort, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in the main event of a nine bout card on Saturday, August 28, 2021. Previously undefeated 9-0 Brooklyn light heavyweight prospect Omar Kabary Salem was not so lucky and got burned after 28 months of inactivity, losing a four round unanimous decision to 3-6 journeyman Brent Oren of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the second bout on the card.




World cruiserweight contender Mateusz Masternak, 45-5 with 30 knockouts, Wroclaw, Poland, knocked out Felipe Nsue, 4-2-1 with three knockouts, Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain, at 1:16 of the third round, at Jeziorem Czos Ampitheatre in Mragowo, Poland, on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Former cruiserweight contender junior Anthony Wright make successful comeback after two and a half years out of the ring at heavyweight, scoring a first round stoppage in 36 seconds of 9-10-1 Alfredo Trevino of Agua Pireta, Sonora, Mexico, at SportsZone, Derry, New Hampshire. Wright, who needs to drop back down to WBC Bridgerweight or return to cruiserweight, is not a heavyweight, but clearly is worthy of better opposition.

Former NABF, World Boxing Council International, World Boxing Organization NABF and International Boxing Federation North American regional welterweight title holder Mikael Zewski, 35-2 with 23 knockouts, Trois-Riviers, Quebec, Canada, won his first in almost two years, an eight round unanimous decision at Stade Iga, Montreal, Canada, over Dilian Loza, 15-5-1 with nine knockouts, Mexico City, Mexico, on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Southpaw middleweight Christopher Galeano, 14-1 with four knockouts, Bradon, Florida, won an eight round decision over middleweight survivor veteran Marcus Willis, 20-8-2 with six knockouts, Fort Myers, Florida, at Whitesands Events Center, Plant City, Florida. Willis has been stopped only once in 30 pro bouts.
