Happy Birthday Champs! Roberto Duran and Mike Weaver Turn 70

June marks the birthdays of several noted boxers. On a happy note, two of the all-time memorable greats have reached 70 years old in good health and good spirits.
On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the “Hands of Stone”, Roberto Duran, turned 70 years old. Between 1968 and 2001, Duran compiled a record of 103 wins and 16 losses, with 70 knockouts. Duran won world titles at lightweight, welterweight, super welterweight, middleweight, and super middleweight during his career. He is the author of his autobiography “I am Duran” and a fan favorite at boxing events and autograph shows.
On Sunday, June 13, 2021, former World Heavyweight champion Mike “Hercules Weaver turned 70 years old. Between 1972 and 2000, Weaver compiled a record of 41-18-1 with 22 knockouts. Weaver is best known for his televised dramatic fifteenth round knockout of John Tate to win the WBA version of the world heavyweight title while trailing on the scorecards, back in the 15 round titular era in March 1980 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
