

The Springfield Rifle, Davey Moore Among 13 Inducted Into 2021 IBHOF

The late Davey ‘The Springfield Rifle’ Moore, who compiled a 120-5 amateur record, was the 1952 National AAU 118-pound amateur champion, represented the United States at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland. Davey went on to win the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association World Featherweight titles, has been posthumously inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Moore (1933-1963), a native of Springfield, Ohio, is not to be confused with the other late Davey Moore (1959-1988), the former World Junior Middleweight champion from Bronx, New York.
