
Parr Upsets Mundine By Split Decision Down Under

The comeback attempt of former light middleweight, middleweight, and super middleweight world champion and rugby star Anthony Mundine has ended in an upset 10 round split decision loss to MMA fighter John Wayne Parr in a super middleweight bout on November 30, 2019, at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, in South Brisbane, Australia.
Mundine, age 44, 48-10 with 28 knockouts, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, who has now been sent into a final retirement, lost six of his last 10 bouts, and was knocked down in round four by Parr, age 43, 11-3 with 10 knockouts, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, the Muay Thai fighter, who had not fought a professional boxing bout in 16 years.
Mundine also lost a point in round eight for hitting Parr behind the head. Mundine had a good round three, and rallied late, but lacked the comeback power to pull the bout out.
