Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Former World Super Welterweight champion Sadam Ali, and former heavyweight contender Roger Izonritei, receive honorable mention for their recent plunge into the eternal abyss of washed up and defeated.

Former World Boxing Federation World Super Lightweight champion Ali Funeka, 40-11-3 with 32 knockouts, Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa, at age 41, is the biggest ex-world champion fall of the month of May 2019. A veteran of 21 regional and world title bouts and eliminators, Funeka washed up big time, getting stopped in Frankfurt, Germany by 6-0 German super welterweight prospect Abass Baraou in the fifth round, his sixth loss in his past seven bouts. Funeka, who turned pro in September 1995, needs to call it a day.
