Biggest Punch of Month! Maxwell KO Showboating Sediri 14 Seconds Left Wins WBO
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Oh here oh where did that right hand come from? A groggy and seemingly beaten senseless Sam Maxwell of Great Britain, beaten senseless for nine and a half rounds, who looked like one shot would put him away at any moment, landed a left hand followed by a big right hand in the closing seconds to deck Sabri Sediri of France onto his back for an eight count, and stop him with 14 seconds left in the scheduled ten rounder on Friday, March 23, 2019.
Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury touched gloves with Maxwell at ringside following the shocking ending. Goes the old classic expression, it ain’t over till it’s over. The crowd loved it.
In a bizarre battle of unbeaten prospects for the vacant World Boxing Organization European Super Lightweight title, Liverpool, United Kingdom’s 10-0 Sam Maxwell came off the canvas in the first and second round, took a brutal beating the whole way, and needed a knockout to win against 10-0-1 Sabri Sediri of Amiens, France, on Friday, March 23, 2019, at Leicester Arena, in Leicester, United Kingdom.
Sediri, dancing circles with his hands down showboating in the tenth and final round, stupidly dancing his way with his hands down en route to certain victory while taunting the battered face of Maxwell, got caught and brought the British crowds to their feet in a crowd pleasing impossible ending which video footage cannot do justice. Sediri got decked onto his back for an eight count, and the referee waved the bout off with Sediri unable to continue.
Sam Maxwell, with nine knockouts in 11 bouts in his 30 month pro career, is the Real Combat Media winner of the Biggest Punch of March 2019, Real Combat Media Best Comeback of March 2019, and Real Combat Media Biggest punch of the Year so far. With heart and courage, Sam Maxwell symbolizes everything good which is the sport of boxing.
