Adonis Stevenson in Intensive Care After a Brutal Knockout by Oleksandr Gvozdyk
Quebec, Canada (December 2, 2018)– Adonis Stevenson is in critical condition after suffering a vicious 11th-round knockout at the hands of Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Quebec on Saturday night.
Stevenson’s promoter, Yvon Michel, took to his Twitter account to share the news, saying Stevenson’s family wants to “inform friends and supporters that Adonis is currently in a critical condition in intensive care in the hospital following his fight against Oleksander Gvozdyk. They appreciate the concern and support of all. There will be no further comments at this time and they respectfully request your understanding in their desire to stay in private.”
Gvozdyk snapped Stevenson’s unbeaten streak at 17 ins in a row to capture his WBC belt before a stunned crowd in Stevenson’s native Quebec City.
At the beginning of the third round, Gvozdyk knocked Stevenson down, despite the referee ruling it a slip. During the 11th round, Gvozdyk hit Stevenson with a hard right hand, before delivering a combination to knock him out. The 41-year-old Stevenson clearly looked dazed in the ring after suffering the knockout before receiving medical attention.
Real Combat Media wishes Adonis Stevenson a full recovery and will be praying for Stevenson and his family.
