JOSH TAYLOR DEFEATS VIKTOR POSTOL IN SCOTLAND IN A WBC ELIMINATOR
Glasgow, Scotland (June 24th, 2018)– Josh Taylor finished strongly in a unanimous points decision win over Viktor Postol to secure a shot at the WBC super-lightweight title. The Scotsman floored Ukrainian Postol in the tenth round before earning scores of 118-110, 117-110 and 119-108 after an entertaining world title eliminator at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The third and fourth rounds were brilliant, with both fighters attacking. It seemed evenly poised at the halfway point and Postol (29-2, 12 KOs), 34, hurt Taylor with right hands in the seventh round. But Taylor (13-0, 11 KOs), 27, from Edinburgh, was the aggressor in the ninth round, and twice caught Postol on the chin. Taylor then floored Postol in the tenth round with a left before nailing him with a left hook in the 11th. “I’m happy with how I performed and I learned a hell of a lot from that fight,” Taylor said.
