

Philly Surprise! Robinson Wins, Prospects Bates, Johnson, Madison, Villenueva Don’t at 2300 Arena

Philadelphia, PA (April 8th, 2018)– On a seven bout card promoted by Marshall Kauffman’s Kings Promotions at 2300 Arena on Friday evening, April 6, 2018, 10-1 super middleweight prospect Brandon Robinson of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, won an eight round unanimous decision over 19-1 Oscar Riojas of Monterrey, Mexico.
However, the rest of the card was not so smooth. 8-0-1 super bantamweight prospect Marcus Bates of Washington, D.C. lost an eight round unanimous decision to 11-0 Raeese Aleem of Las Vegas, Nevada. 6-0-1 heavyweight prospect Colby Madison of Owings Mills, Maryland, drew over six rounds with 2-2 Guillermo Del Rio of Houston, Texas. 3-1 Philadelphia welterweight prospect Rasheed Johnson lost a four-round split decision to 1-0-1 Denis Okoth of Siaya, Kenya. Debuting Philadelphia light heavyweight Carlos Villenueva got outpointed by 1-0 Kendall Cannida.
In two bright spots, Puerto Rican super featherweight prospect Joshafat Ortiz of Reading, Pennsylvania, won a four round unanimous decision over Maryland’s 0-2 Euvgueny Metchenov. Finally, 3-0 Philadelphia welterweight prospect Poindexter Knight outpointed 3-4-1 Philadelphia southpaw Vincent Clark. Several other bouts, including Jose Gonzalez versus Zach Ramsey, were scrapped.
