Brook vs Spence

Errol Spence Jr. has been Kell Brook’s mandatory for a while now and fans were unsure if Brook was going to fight him. Now it looks like the fight is as good as done. Both fighters have agreed to the contract and both have also agreed to VADA testing.

“All the contracts are agreed and have been sent to the IBF. This is now the only fight we are looking at for Kell and it’s a big one,” Hearn said.

“We are speaking with Sheffield Council about a licence for Bramall Lane on May 27 for a capacity of 28,000. We need to go over the policing, safety and other requirements. All being well we will be able to confirm the fight by the end of this week or the start of next week.”

Dana White Thinks Mayweather vs. McGregor Will Happen

Dana White has said in the past that there is no way Conor McGregor fights Floyd Mayweather in a boxing ring. On Wednesday night White was on the talk show CONAN and he said he does think the fight will happen. Last week Mayweather came out of retirement and the only thing standing in the way of the fight was Dana White but now that’s no problem. The fight is being looked at for June 10th at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Who do you have your money on?

Chavez Jr Leading Up to Canelo Fight

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr will meet Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez in the ring on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Many people doubt Chavez Jr’s ability to beat Canelo in this fight but he is feeling confident.

“People tell me that if I prepare well I will beat Canelo, and that gives me confidence because I will prepare well and then I will win,” said Chavez Jr. to ESPN Deportes.

“I’ve always viewed this as a winnable fight, but today I view it as being even more winnable because I’ve put my body through hard work and it has responded well, in all aspects. I believe that when I punch I’m punching at my hardest ever and I’m improving my speed as well. I feel good, rejuvenated, it’s been great to be here.”

Some people think that Chavez Jr will dehydrate himself to make weight and will be at a major disadvantage the day of the fight. One of Chavez Jr’s trainers, Memo Heredia, says that after his workout Chavez Jr weighs 179 lbs. Their goal is to get down to 175 lbs in the next two weeks. Chavez Jr’s confidence is rising as the fight nears, he even went as far to talk trash during training.

“Canelo, he doesn’t like the fact that I tell him that he’s fought with little guys, that he’s had fights that are always in his favor – and this time it’s not like that, it’s different. He’s going to fight me. For the first time, he’s really going to have to fight. This is not for the money. What I want is to knock him out, to make him pay what he’s done to others and how he abused them,” Chavez Jr. told Erika Montoya.

“He’s never going to be Julio Cesar Chavez, he’ll never be better than me. I’m going to win.”

Kovalev on Ward

Last November Sergey Kovalev suffered his first defeat to the hands of Andre Ward in a highly controversial decision. Ever since then Kovalev has been pushing for a rematch but Ward is nowhere to be found and has even gone as far as to say he is thinking about retirement. Kovalev has recently expressed how mad he is and how he feels about Ward.

“I know that I won the fight, it’s not only my opinion because I’m very happy that boxing fans feel like me. It was just dirty business. My goal right now is to get my belts. I’m happy that this loss happened, because I saw how much bullsh*t around me. Now I understand that my friends are only how many fingers I have [on my hand], [and] my close friends, my real friends and not just people who I meet.”

“I hope [the rematch happens]. If he’s a real champ. Ande Ward, if you are real champ – you will give me the rematch. Are you a man or a girl? Let’s do it. You scared motherf*er.”

Golovkin vs Jacobs

Gennady Golovkin remains the WBC, WBA, and IBF Middleweight Champion after defeating Danny Jacobs by unanimous decision in an extremely close fight. The fight was so close that it could have gone either way. The first two round were a toss up and could have gone to either fight it not until the third round where the two fighters started to exchange. In the fifth round Golovkin knocked Jacobs down to the canvas but Jacobs got back up and continued. It looked like the first half of the fight belonged to Golovkin and the second half belonged to Jacobs. During the second half of the fight Golovkin’s punch out put was neutralized by Jacobs’ defense. Two judges scored the fight 115-112, and the third judge scored the fight 114-113 all in favor of Golovkin. Looks like Golovkin might not give a rematch to Jacobs right away in hopes that he fights Canelo Álvarez next. Who do you think own the fight?

Chocolatito’s First Defeat

Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez lost for the first time to the hands of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in a split decision. This fight was extremely close and could have gone either way, like the Golovkin vs Jacobs fight. Rungvisai was extremely active and continuously put pressure on Chocolatito. In the third round Chocolatito got a cut over his right eye from an accidental headbutt. Rungvisai and Chocolatito clashed heads several times until the sixth round where the referee took a point away from Rungvisai for leading with his head and causing the clashing. By that point Chocolatito had two cuts on his head and the blood started pouring out. As the rounds progressed so did the amount of blood coming out of Chocolatito. It makes one wonder if the lack tog blood added to Chocolatito’s fatigue and vision. Rungvisai is now the WBC World Super Flyweight Champion. What did you think about the decision?

Golovkin’s Promoter

Gennady Golovkin beat Danny Jacobs in a close decision Saturday night and some would hope they would rematch right away but by the looks of it that is not what’s going to happen. Golovkin’s promoter is looking hoping for a fight with Canelo next and wants nothing to stand in the way of it. When asked about the rematch here’s what his promoter had to say:

“We have to see what happens with Canelo in May, but that would be the priority,” said Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions. “Danny fought a terrific fight. They both did.”
