Holyfield, Bowe, Mercer and Toney- Grand Marshals at 2017 Vicksburg Parade
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Vicksburg, PA (January 17, 2017)– Former world boxing champions Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, Ray Mercer and James Toney were the Grand Marshals, traveling and waving to onlookers form separate vehicles, as guests of honor in the annual 2017 Vicksburg Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade on Saturday, January 14, 2017, honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Today’s Vicksburg is a multicultural mosaic of many peoples. Vicksburg, it can be argued, has gone through many changes since the surrender in Vicksburg by Confederate General John C. Pemberton on July 4, 1863, the day after General Robert E. Lee lost the Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The American Civil War was won on those days.
