WSOF Presents Madison Square Garden New Year’s Eve NBC MMA Extravaganza

New York, NY (December 30th, 2016)– The World Series of Fighting will present an 11 bout three part Mixed Martial Arts card on New Year’s Eve, Saturday evening, December 31, 2016, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, its first MMA card in New York State since MMA was legalized earlier this year. The WSOF follows the UFC as the second major MMA organization to bring the magic and excitement of professional Mixed Martial Arts to New York in 2016.

 

The first part of the card will begin with four preliminary bouts from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M., broadcast over the internet at www.WSOF.com. Tom ‘Tommy Gunnz’ Marcellino, 7-5, Amsterdam, New York, will battle Matt Denning, 3-4, augurn, Maine.in a welterweight bout. Featherweight Andre Harrison, 14-0, will face Bruce Boyington, 14-9. Middleweight Vagab Vagabov, 20-0, Dagestan, Russia, will face Bruno Santos, 14-2, Macae Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Light heavyweight Smealingho ‘The Prince’ Rama, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, will face Jake ‘The Honey Bear’ Heun, 9-4, Coconut Creek, Florida.

 

The second part of the card will feature two preliminary bouts and a world title bout broadcast on the NBC Sports Network from 2:30 to 4 P.M. A junior middleweight catchweight ‘who’s the toughest’ bout features Shane Krutchen, 11-4, faces Jeremy Mahon 5-4. Heavyweight Jared Rosholt, 14-3, Sandpoint, Indiana, will face Caio Alencar, 9-1, Rio Grande Do Norte, Brazil.  In a 185 pound World Middleweight title bout, David Branch, 9-3, Brooklyn, New York, will defend his title against 13-1 Louis Taylor of Chicago, Illinois.

 

The third part of the card will feature four main event boats broadcast on NBC television from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. In a 170 pound World Welterweight title bout, Jon Fitch, 28-7, Fort Wayne, Indiana, defends his title against Jake Shields, 31-8, San Francisco, California. Welterweight Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami, 32-10, Funisawa Kangawa, Japan, faces Paul Radley, 23-6, San Diego, California. In a 135 pound World Bantamweight title bout, Marlon Moraes, 16-4, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, defends his title against challenger Josenaldo Silva, 25-4, Curitiba Parana, Brazil. In the 155 pound Lightweight World Title main event bout, Justin Gathje, 16-0, Safford, Arizona, faces the challenge of Luiz Firmino 19-7, Joao Pessoa, Brazil.

 

Tickets for the World Series of Fighting in New York City at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, December 31, 2016 are $500 and $250 ringside, $50 lower areas, $30 upper areas.
