Vasyl Lomachenko vs Nicholas Walters Official

The highly anticipated fight between Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Nicholas Walters is official for November 26, 2016 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas Nevada. The fight will be at 130 lbs for the WBO super featherweight title that Lomachenko won after moving up in weight and knocking out the champion Roman Martinez. In Walter’s last fight he was given a draw against Jason Sosa; the decision was controversial and many fans and critics thought that Walter’s was robbed of a win. The fight will in fact be on regular HBO not on Top Rank Tv. This fight is another clash between the brains vs brawns. Neither Lomachenko or Walters have ever been stopped in their professional career therefore a stoppage from either would show that they are at the elite level.

Victor Ortiz Arrested

Victor Ortiz was arrested today for drinking under the influence while driving. He was pulled over for driving with expired license plates and the officer suspected he had been drinking. How much trouble is Ortiz in and will it affect his boxing career?

Kell Brook’s Coach talks surgery

A few weeks back Kell Brook went under surgery after moving up thirteen pounds and fighting Gennady Golovkin who happens to be the champion of multiple belts and the heaviest hitter at that weight. Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle was interviewed by The Star and talked about Brook’s surgery. “The surgeon – who was called Mohammed Ali, believe it or not – went up through his gums, his front teeth, moved an eye to one side and then sorted out the fracture.” said Ingle.

In the interview Ingle also talked about when and who Kell Brook might fight next. Ingle said “Kell is good, though, and doesn’t want any delays before his next fight – he wants to be out again early in the New year, rather than later. After fighting Golovkin, Kell only wants to box seriously big names, like Amir Khan, Saul Alvarez, Miguel Cotto. Big fights and titles on the line, that’s what you need from this moment on.”

Pacquiao admits to drug use

Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has become good friends with Rodrigo Duterte the president of the Philippines. Duterte has been tough on drugs which has led to the death of over 3,000 drug users and handlers in the last 3 months. Pacquiao supports Duterte and his policies on drugs but recently Pacquiao has admitted to his past drug use. “The President, he doesn’t know my experience with drugs,” said Pacquiao. “He always gives a chance to people who want to be changed. I tried drugs … many kinds of drugs, all kinds of drugs.” Pacquiao might be afraid that if the president knew his past drug use it would affect their relationship. According to Pacquiao his drug use was only before he became champion and nothing after.

Tyson Fury tests positive for Cocaine

Last week the matchup between Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury was canceled because Fury was “medically unfit to fight”. The reason why he was unfit to fight has finally made it out to the public. ESPN reported that Tyson Fury tested positive for cocaine after a random drug test on September 22, 2016 administered by VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association). Since then Fury has been stripped of his titles. As of now it is not clear if Tyson will be banned from boxing or not.

Billy Joe Saunders vs. Artur Akavov Official

The WBO World Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders (23-0) was hoping to fight Gennady Golovkin this year but instead he will be fighting against a fighter named Artur Akavov (16-1) October 22 at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham Arena; the fight will be exclusively on BoxNation. Last time Saunders fought he beat Andy Lee for the WBO title in December 2015. It is important for Saunders to win because it can lead him to a big money fight against Saul Canelo Álvarez or Gennady Golovkin.

Mauricio Herrera vs. Pablo Cesar Cano

Mauricio Herrera (22-6) is set to return against Pablo Cesar Cano (29-5-1) on November 18, 2016. The fight will be broadcasted Estrella TV’s Boxeo Estelar. Herrera has been on the wrong side of two decisions one against Danny Garcia and Jose Benavidez. Those two fights ended controversially with Herrera losing but many observers thinking he won. His two chances to change his career completely were robbed and may have affected his chance to become a big name in boxing.

Marquez Calls out Canelo

A fight between Saul Canelo Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin is what boxing fans are going crazy over right now. There has been recent talks between the two fighters but reports say that Canelo’s promotions is giving Golovkin a flat fee instead of percentage. This is bad for Golovkin be cause at the end of the day he could be getting a substantially low cut of the money that could be made between the two. Former four division champion Juan Manuel Marquez says that the flat fee is a way to avoid a fight with Golovkin. “They are really punishing Gennady Golovkin [by offering a flat fee] …. because it’s just a way to avoid to Golovkin, it’s a way of saying we do not want the fight. We are not going to pay you that much, would you like to accept it?” said Marquez. By what has been coming out of Canelo’s mouth it looks like he wants the fight and he is tired of being criticized about not fight Golovkin. On the other hand Oscar De La Hoya does seem in a hurry to put his cash cow in a dangerous fight.

Joseph Parker

This week heavyweight Joseph Parker (23-0) beat Alexander Dimitrenko (38-2) by knockout in the third round. Parker was in talks to fight against Anthony Joshua but recently Joshua started negotiations with Wladimir Klitschko. Since Parker’s chances with Joshua are in danger he has started negotiations with Andy Ruiz. They are looking to fight on December 10th in New Zealand for a world title.

Nathan Cleverly

This week Nathan Cleverly became the WBA World Light Heavyweight Champion after defeating Nathan Cleverly. The fight ended after Braehmer quit in the 7th round. Cleverly say that a rematch is possible but he doesn’t think Braehmer will want one. “If he wants the rematch as per the contract, he can have it. I don’t know that he’ll want it” said Cleverly. With the light heavyweight division stacked with talented fighters he will not have trouble finding adversity.
