Carl Frampton vs. Leo Santa Cruz Rematch Is Set

Dublin, Ireland (October 20th, 2016)– Carl Frampton (23-0, 14 KOs) confirmed that a deal has been reached between himself and Leo Santa Cruz (32-1-1, 8 KOs) for their hotly anticipated rematch.

‘The Jackal’ told followers on social media this afternoon that the fight was a “done deal.”

Belfast’s WBA featherweight champion did not give details regarding date or venue, although Las Vegas in January is rumored.

Frampton defeated Santa Cruz at the Barclays Center in New York this July to win the WBA belt and become a two-weight World champion. Brooklyn hosted clash is a Fight of the Year contender and saw Frampton emerge as a majority-decision winner (114-114, 116-112, 117-111).

Afterwards it was revealed that there was a rematch clause in the pair’s contract, however a repeat always seemed likely after the crowd-pleasing clash.
