CONOR MCGREGOR VS. EDDIE ALVAREZ IS OFFICIAL

Las Vegas, NV (September 27, 2016)– The super fight is official. 145lb UFC champ Conor McGregor will fight Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 for the inaugural NY UFC card at Madison Square on November 12th according to an ESPN Dana White announcement.

Eddie Alvarez, 32, (28-4)  is coming of an impressive performance where he defeated Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC crown. Before that, Alvarez defeated Gilbert Melendez and for 155lb king, Anthony Pettis. Alvarez lost a close unanimous decision to Donald Cerrone at UFC 178 in 2014 to enter the UFC from Bellator.

Conor McGregor, 28 (20-3) suffered a devastating loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 in December by submission with a rear naked choke for his first UFC loss in a non title fight at 170lb. Before his first UFC loss, Conor defeated Jose Aldo in 13 seconds to earn the 145lb UFC title.

The addition of Alvarez vs. McGregor as the main event means UFC 205 will now feature three title fights with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley meeting Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk putting her belt on the line against Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Both McGregor and Alvarez will also appear at the UFC 205 press conference on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden kicking off at 6 p.m. ET.
