Sergey Kovalev vs. Andre Ward Deal Is Official

Las Vegas, NV (August 27th, 2016)– Andre Ward (30-0, 15 KOs) vs. Russia’s Sergey  Kovalev is now official according to Boxing Scene and many of our sources.

The past few weeks the fight was in jeopardy for minor contractual details and the two promotions could not agree on a venue.

An official announcement was made August 9 in Los Angeles, but only Kovalev attended a press conference during which the site of the fight was not announced at that time.

RocNation and Main Events Promotions could not agree if the fight was going to take place in the Madison Square Garden venue in NY or in Las Vegas.

The fight will now take place at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV on November 19th on HBO PPV.  The two fighters are regarded as some of the best pound for pound fighters in the sport. Kovalev is known for his impressive knockout ability and holds the IBF, WBA and WBO 175 Pound championships. Kovalev is coming off a unanimous win over Isaac Chilemba in July that took place in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Ward, the former 168lb king is one of the best technical fighters in the sport. Ward has not lost a fight since he was an amateur as a teenager. Ward is coming off a unanimous decision over 39 year old Colombian, Alexander Brand in early August in Oakland California; where he met Sergey Kovalev for the first time on HBO after the fight.

Currently Andre Ward is the slight betting favorite.
