Manny Pacquiao Chooses Jesse Vargas As His Next Opponent
Los Angeles, CA (August 4th, 2016)– According to a report that Los Angeles Times writer Lance Pugmire had with Manny Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz, Manny Pacquiao will be fighting WBO Welterweight Champion Jessie Vargas on November 5th.
Jesse Vargas (27-1, 10KOs) is coming off a spectacular win over Sadam Ali. Manny Pacquiao (58-6, 2 38 KOs) lost to Mayweather in 2015 by decision and defeated Tim Bradley in April of 2016 by unanimous decision.
“Retirement doesn’t suit Manny right now, boxing is in his blood. When he trains, it’s like a pressure-release valve. You can see a dramatic difference in his mood, he’ happy. It’s amazing what training and fighting does for him.” said Koncz
Both Koncz & Top Rank CEO Bob Arum are heading to the Philippines to discuss the details with Manny . According to Koncz the bout with Vargas will take place in either Las Vegas or Dubai.
Also according to Koncz Vargas became Manny’s choice of opponent after both Koncz and Manny decided that they were not comfortable with Terence Crawford’s style.
“I don’t like Crawford’s boxing style. I don’t believe it’s a style that suits Manny,” said Koncz to the LA Times. “It’s Manny’s decision. We’re not going to chase Floyd,” Koncz said. “If Floyd wants to give Manny a rematch, of course we’ll entertain it. We’re not fools.”
“Koncz said discussion will be about Dubai or Las Vegas,” said Pugmire on his Twitter.
