FRANCISCO VARGAS VS. ORLANDO SALIDO PREVIEW

Carson, California (June 3, 2016)- After defeating Takashi Miura back in November 2015, in a Fight of the Year match-up, the WBC Super Featherweight Champion Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas (23-0-1, 17 KOs), will have his first title defense against former three-time world champion Orlando “Siri” Salido (43-13-3, 30 KOs), in another potential Fight of the Year, live from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The fight will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark.
The fight between these two Mexican warriors had fireworks written all over it when the fight was announced. Salido is coming off a great match against Rocky Martinez, which he lost a controversial unanimous-decision. Salido is no stranger to wars. He has been in many battles in 20 years of his professional career. Orlando has faced high caliber opponents such as: Juan Manuel Marquez, Robert Guerrero, Juan Manuel Lopez, Mikey Garcia; just to name a few. He has the resume and quality to make a real tough challenge for the new world champion.
Francisco Vargas has had his shares of wars as well. Juan Manuel Lopez is a mutual opponent both Vargas and Salido have faced. When Vargas faced Lopez back in July 2014, the boxing world witnessed a new threat to the super featherweight division, when Vargas finished Lopez in 3 rounds.
During Vargas preparation for his next fight against Salido, a small yet big obstacle got in his way when he tested positive for a banned substance called, clenbuterol. Clenbuterol is sometimes found in cattle meat in parts of Mexico. Vargas had traveled to his home country back in April where he unknowingly consumed tainted meat. He then traveled back to California to continue his training, and was randomly hit by VADA. The fight did not get called off due to the very small amount of clenbuterol that was found in Vargas system.
Both fighters have put the dilemma behind them and are ready to give the fans a great show.
“I’m ready to give another incredible fight to the fans. I have always said I want to fight the best, and Salido is one of the best.” Said Vargas. “The only thing on my mind is to win this fight on Saturday. It’s up to the fans to decide if I’m number one. I’m a technical fighter but it will come down to my intelligence. This will be a very difficult fight on Saturday.”
Salido also had a few words.
“I’m a warrior and Vargas is a warrior. The ones who will win will be the fans.
“When you get in to boxing, you are mentally prepared to get knocked down. Every time I’ve been knocked down,I just get back up again and fight. I like to prove everyone wrong and that’s what I plan to do when I go in and fight this young undefeated fighter.”
Co-main event: Ramirez vs Lopez
The co-main event will feature two up and coming undefeated fighters. Julian “El Camaron” Ramirez (16-0, 8 KOs) will take on Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez (20-0-1, 15 KOs).
The two will battle it out for the vacant NABA Featherweight Title and the bragging rights of becoming the local hero and can possibly steal the show.
