A Tribute Poem for Smokin’ Joe Frazier
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Float like a smoking cannon, sting like a tree
Smokin’ Joe Frazier’s soul be free
The trees and the leaves blow with the season
Ali’s there and I’m gone. What’s the reason?
Left hook, right hook, took ‘em down
Knocked ’em out and won the heavyweight crown
Lots of dollars come and went
Took my land and left me without a cent.
Ain’t no more smoke where I am now
No training camps or rotten chow
Muhammad Ali was my friend, you know
Where did all the time go?
With my moustache and jewelry and wardrobe
They said my style of life was like no other
My spirit lives on in the City of Philadelphia
Love to you, my brother.
