
SHOTS FIRED & ONE PERSON KILLED AT IRISH BOXING WEIGH-IN
Dublin, Ireland (February 5th, 2016)–(AP) — Irish police say unidentified gunmen have opened fire on boxing fans at a Dublin hotel, killing one man and wounding two others.
Detectives have yet to disclose a motive for Friday’s shooting in the lobby of the Regency Hotel in northern Dublin, where fans were attending a weigh-in event for boxers ahead of a weekend boxing competition.
Police said all three victims were in their 20s or 30s. One was pronounced dead at the scene. The two others were taken to separate Dublin hospitals with suspected gunshot wounds.

Horror: A group of men reportedly burst in dressed as police officers with automatic weapons and began firing at the Regency Hotel in Dublin.
A man has died and two others are injured after a group of men allegedly dressed in police uniforms burst into a hotel and began firing AK47s, it’s been reported.
The attack happened at a boxing tournament weigh-in at the Regency Hotel in Dublin at around 2.30pm this afternoon.
Witnesses told how the men were dressed in police-style uniforms and were holding automatic weapons which they are thought to have been firing at random.
Three men, aged in their 20s or 30s, were injured in the shooting.
Gardai said one of the men has since been pronounced dead.
The two other victims have been rushed to The Mater and Beaumont hospitals with what are suspected to be gunshot wounds.

The scene has been sealed off as several people fled the hotel.
The weigh-in was ahead of a Clash of the Clans boxing bout at the National Stadium in the south of the city, scheduled to take place on Saturday evening.
Promoters MGM had advertised the event show which was set to begin at 2pm.
They posted: “The weigh-in will be taking place at the Regency Airport Hotel today Friday 5th February at 14:00.”We look forward to seeing you there.”
Two more people were injured during the Friday afternoon shooting at the city’s Regency Hotel.
Three gunmen — clad in “police style uniforms” and carrying assault rifles — allegedly burst into the hotel as boxers from Spain’s MGM gym were weighing in for a weekend competition. The gunfire sent dozens fleeing from the ballroom.
Police responding to the bloody scene found three men in their 30s injured. One died at the scene and the other two were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said. The victims have not been named, and it’s not clear if any of them were boxers.
The event’s headline bout on Friday night is scheduled to pit Jamie Kavanagh (r.) against Joao Bento.
The professional boxing gym was due to host the “Clash of the Clans” championship at the Regency Friday.
MGM has not commented on the shooting, but Irish sports sites reported that Friday night’s match has been canceled.
It’s unclear if tomorrow’s headline bout between Jamie Kavanagh and Joao Bento for the WBO European lightweight title will go on as scheduled.
Dublin paramedics and fire crews tweeted Friday that they were responding to a “serious incident” at the three-star hotel in the city’s Drumcondra neighborhood.
The gunmen have not been identified, and their motive is not clear.
