THURMAN VS. PORTER IS OFFICIAL FOR PBC ON CBS
Uncasville, Connecticut (January 16th, 2016)– The original idea was to put Thurman and Porter on Showtime, with December 12 as the date. Now months later our sources confirm the fight will take place on CBS March 12 at the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Now, with it looking like the fight is good to go, we can breathe a little easier. It’s a really intriguing matchup in the 147-pound division, pitting unbeaten Thurman (26-0, 22 KO) against former IBF titleholder Porter (26-1-1, 16 KO) in a matchup that sort of signals the beginning of a new era of the 147-pound division.
Thurman’s best fights have come against B level fighters. Thurman’s best opponents were Luis Collazo, 40-year-old Leonard Bundu, Julio Diaz, Diego Chaves, Jan Zaveck, Robert Guerrero, and Jesus Soto Karass.
Porter has been out of the ring since beating Adrien Broner last June in a mostly one sided fight. Porter also defeated Devon Alexander in 2013 and has a decision loss to Kell Brook in 2014.
Thurman last fought in July last year in stopping the 34-year-old Collazo in the 7th round. Thurman was hurt by a left body shot in the 4th and he almost went down.
