MAYWEATHER DECIDES TO KEEP HIS WBC BELTS FOR NOW
Las Vegas, NV (Septemeber 19th, 2015)– According to ESPN.com, Floyd Mayweather will get to hold his WBC Belts for now. Initially Floyd Mayweather wanted to drop the belts to give younger fighters a shot at championship glory. Earlier this year the WBO stripped Mayweather of his championship belt.
Floyd Mayweather announced his retirement from the sport last week when he defeated Andre Berto by unanimous decision.
The WBA has not yet made an official announcement on the status of Mayweather’s belt.
The WBC will be having meetings in Kunming,China Nov 1st thru the 6th to discuss their rules and regulations.
“The future of the welterweight and [junior middleweight] divisions will be among the priority discussions during the convention,” the WBC said.
