Boxing superstar, WBA, IBO and WBC “Interim” Middleweight Champion GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN (33-0, 30 KOs) will face IBF Middleweight title holder, Montreal power-puncher DAVID LEMIEUX (34-2, 31 KOs), in a World Middleweight Championship Title Unification bout on Saturday, October 17 at the Mecca of BoxingMadison Square Garden. The championship event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

The historic Belasco Theater was on fire for the latest installment of Golden Boy Promotions’ LA FIGHT CLUB on August 6. With a number of professional debuts from powerhouse fighters, it’s clear that the future of boxing is bright and that Golden Boy Promotions’ stable of fighters are the next generation of elite boxers. The sold-out crowd included former LA Laker Metta World Peace as well as former interim WBC Super Lightweight World Champion Lucas “La Maquina” Matthysse who stuck around for the fights following his own press conference earlier in the day, ahead of his vacant WBC Super Lightweight World Championship bout against Viktor Postol,scheduled for October 3 at the Stubhub Center and live on HBO Boxing After®.
The main event featured Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez who took on
Jorge “King” Diaz and took the win by technical knockout as Diaz’s corner terminated the match at the beginning of round ten. In the co-main event crowd favorite, Roy “Pitbull” Tapia faced off against Juan “La Perla Negra” Hernandez in a scheduled eight-round super bantamweight bout in which Tapia took the win via a third round knockout. In the second televised bout of the night, making his professional debut, Hector “El Finito” Tanajara Jr. faced Thomas De Leon and had no trouble knocking out him out in the first round. In the first televised bout of the night, Jonathan Navarro made his professional debut against
Andrew Gomez and also sent his opponent to the canvas in the first round to win via knockout. Opening up the night, Joshua Franco had an impressive professional debut as he took on Temoatzin Landeros and took home his first win in a split decision.

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino once again hosted an action-packed evening of boxing, complete with boxing world champion appearances from Roy Jones Jr., Scott Quigg,Mauricio Herrera, and Randy Caballero. In the main event of the night Dmitry Mikhaylenko, maintained his unblemished record as he was declared the winner for the covenant NABA Title via technical knockout over Johan Perez. In the night’s co-main event battle between Yoandris Salinas and Manuel Avila, Avila was declared the interim NABF Super Bantamweight Champion by TKO in the sixth as Salinas couldn’t continue due to a right-hand injury. In the non-televised portion, undefeated fighter Joet Gonzalez maintained his record unblemished when he took on Miguel Tamayo winning the bout via knockout.Finally, Irish knockout artist Jason Quigley faced Michael Faulk ending the night with his eight victory by TKO.

Former Interim WBC Super Lightweight World Champion and number two contender for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight Title  Lucas “La Máquina” Matthysse and former WBC International Super Lightweight Champion and number one contender for the vacant WBC Super Lightweight Title Viktor “The Iceman” Postol plus former Three-Division World Champion Humberto “La Zorrita” Soto and undefeated super lightweight contender Antonio Orozco held a Los Angeles press conference Thursday, August 6 ahead of their upcoming fight on October 3 for the vacant  WBC World Super Lightweight Championship at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
