Don King Productions Heavyweight Extravaganza! D Las Vegas ShoBox Card Tonight

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Las Vegas, NV (August 28th, 2015)– Boxing promoter Don King, Don King Productions, and USA Showtime’s ShoBox *The New Generation* will present a six bout boxing card featuring five heavyweight bouts tonight, Friday August 28, 2015, at The D Hotel & Casino’s Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. Entitled ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ Heavyweight Extravaganza, the main event will feature Trevor Bryan versus Derric Rossy in a ten rounder for the vacant World Boxing Council North American Boxing Federation Junior Heavyweight title.

Rossy, age 35, 30-9 with 14 knockouts, Medford, New York, is favored to win by ten round unanimous decision over Bryan, 15-0, 11 knockouts, Schenectady, New York. Bryan has fought nobody of note, and is known only as a participant in the 2010 and 2011 National Golden Gloves. Rossy has a high level of solid world class experience on his fight resume.

Decarlo Perez, 14-3-1, five knockouts, Atlantic City, New Jersey, is favored by knockout in the middle rounds of a scheduled ten rounder over the highly questionable padded record of Juan Ubaldo Cabrera, age 36, an unbeaten but untested 23-0 Dominican fighter.

Pennsylvania Polish heavyweight Joey Dawejko, 15-4-2, has six first round knockouts in his last seven fights. Dawejko is predicted to win by eight round unanimous decision over Natu Visinia, a college educated David Tua Samoan lookalike. Dawejko has lost a ten rounder to Amir Mansour, while Visinia was stopped in seven rounds by Steve Cunningham after knocking him down. In a technical war of power, Dawejko should win. The only drawback could be lack of offense, and it depends on the kind of training camp Buddy McGirt has had Dawejko in preparation for. If the offense is not there, Visinia could score an upset. Visinia would have to a great defense to overcome Dawejko’s power. Anything is possible.

Rising heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell, 12-0 with five knockouts, Norfolk, Virginia, is predicted to win by eight round decision over 5-5-3 Avery Gibson of California. Barnwell’s problem is inactivity, having been out of the ring since January 2014. He better be careful. Gibson knocked out 5-1 Tyree Ortiz in the first round on August 8, 2015, three weeks ago.

Also on the card: debuting heavyweight Chesney Griffith is predicted is predicted to win by four round decision over 2-1 Miguel Angel Tavera of Nuevo Leon, Mexico; and 16-1 Uzbekistan heavyweight prospect Akhror Muralimov is scheduled to appear in an eight rounder.
