By Robert Brizel, Real Combat Media MMA Correspondent

Las Vegas, NV (July 31, 2015)– World Series of Fighting 22 will present an exciting 10 bout card of Mixed Martial Artists in professional five round bouts on Saturday evening, August 1, 2015, at The Axis at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Five preliminary bouts will start at 5 P.M. The five main event bouts will follow at 8 P.M. The MMA card will air on the NBC Sports Network, part of the WSOF series on NBC and WSOF President Ray Sefo.

In the featured co-main event attraction,Rousimar Palhares, (17-6-0), Team Nogueira  Minas Gerais, Brazil, will make his second World Series of Fighting World Welterweight title defense, and is favored to win by decision over rough tough challenger Jake Shields, (31-7-1 3 Kos) , Cesar Gracie Fight Team, San Francisco, California.

Palhares is the best MMA fighter in the world who uses leglocks, heel hooks and kneebars. Shields has more WSOF experience. The Palhares key to success will be in executing his leglocks effectively and avoiding the grappling techniques of Shields, who could make for a long night if he can control Palhares on the mat with command. This could be the MMA ‘Fight of The Year’.

Palhares will have to defeat Shields cleanly. Palhares was dropped from the UFC for unsportsmanlike conduct, and has been warned by WSOF President Ray Safo for issues regarding his conduct in the cage. The future of Palhares in the WSOF hinges on his present and future conduct. A disqualification loss in WSOF 22 could adversely affect his promising MMA career.

fight on this card by the Nevada State Athletic Commission due to previous anti-doping
infractions from 2011.
