GARY RUSSELL VS. JHONNY GONZALEZ PREVIEW & WEIGH-IN
Millerville PA (March 27th, 2015)– Legendary trainer, Ignacio “ Nacho” Beristain, insists that top of the class Jhonny Gonzalez, will successfully chalk up another defence of his WBC featherweight title against southpaw, Gary Russell. Nacho acknowledges, rather than bows to Russell´s top form skills, but insists that he’s done his homework and has already spotted Gary’s weak spot, which won’t stand up to exacting examination, and it’ll be duly ticked off by Jhonny at the Palms Resort and Casino, this Saturday night. “Jhonny is a very disciplined fighter.
He’s always meticulously paying attention to all indications and details. We’re not just relying on Jhonny’s famed power. That’s why we’ll reach this fight with a whole arsenal of options to contermand Russell’s speed,” suggested the wily and vastly experienced coach, who’s a master of revision. Conducted by the Beristain baton, the great puncher boxer, who’s known to stick to the task, has amassed 16 victories 14 of them by KO and only one loss. In so doing he’s gained the WBC featherweight Championship during two different cycles, and will be aiming for a third crown at a third weight category, in the non too distant future.
Gary Russell Jr. (25-1, 14 KOs) says that Champion Jhonny González (57-8, 48 KOs), has too many miles on the clock and he’ll scrap him this Saturday night at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Lighter hitting, but zooming Gary, who’s always a man in a hurry, wants to clock Jhonny with “A ton!” “ I don’t think he’ll be capable of coping with my speed. He’s really, really slow for me! Even though Jhonny’s a great puncher he wont be able to knock me out, ” insisted Gary, who’s gearing an overdrive plan designed to leave Johnny in the parking lot.
He also stressed: “Gonzalez is a good fighter with great power, but without any doubt I have a better technique. I always take all my opponents very seriously, in preparing to win. I will take advantage of this chance to conquer the WBC belt.”
