Jhonny Gonzalez plans to stride into the year with a March or April triumph, defending his WBC featherweight championship against Gary Russell Jr.
Options are March 27th or April 18th
Jhonny explained: “I am already training for my clash against Gary Russell. I am working in the gym with my mind firmly set on my third defense. I am not thinking of the venue or the date. The important thing is that we have a fight, and we are training full out for that!”
The strategy of Jhonny and promoter, Oswaldo Kuchle, is to fight this year against Russell, Abner Mares and Leo Santa Cruz, But now, new WBC Silver Champion, Robinson Castellanos, who’s brilliantly fought himself back into contention, as number one Challenger, is added to the list.
