Bernard Hopkin’s 50th Birthday Golden Boy Card Results

Philadelphia, PA(January 22, 2015)– 2300 Arena in Philadelphia was the venue for the latest installment of Fox Sports Golden Boy Live boxing series. Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Joe Hand Promotions, and BAM Promotions on January 20, 2015. The event has been one of the most exciting in recent memory. Many boxers and boxing personalities were in attendance including 50-Cent, WBC and WBA 140lb champion Danny Garcia.
The event was dedicated to the 50th birthday of former multiple division champion and oldest athlete ever to win a world championship Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins. Hopkins turned 50 on the 15th of January and many fans are left wondering if the half century old boxer will lace up the gloves one final time.
Maryland’s Lamont Roach Jr.(6-0 3kos) opened the televised card with a 4TH round TKO victory over Herbert Quartey(12-11 9kos). Quartey was down in round 1 and twice in round 4 before the stoppage.
New Jersey’s Michael “Angelo” Perez(22-1-2 10kos) and veteran Miguel Acosta provided the most exciting fight of the evening as the co-main event. Perez won the 10 round fight via unanimous decision dropping Acosta in rounds 7 and 10 which proved to be the knockdowns that determined the fight.
Judge Dave Braslow scored the bout 97-94 for Perez, and both judges Dewey LaRosa and Steve Weisfeld scored the bout 96-93 for Perez.
In the main event Philadelphia’s Eric Hunter(20-3 10kos) defeated Rene Alvarado of Nicaragua in a 10 round unanimous decision. Rapper, Actor, and Boxing Promoter Curtis “50-Cent” Jackson was in attendance to support Hunter.
