UNBEATEN JOHN KARL SOSA SIGNS WITH GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS AND WILL FIGHT ON DECEMBER 6 ATBARCLAYS CENTER IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

 

 

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO– Puerto Rican prospect John Karl Sosa was signed by Golden Boy Promotions and will fight on Saturday, December 6, in the program that will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and will feature as the main event the fight between contenders David Lemieux and Gabriel “King” Rosado.

Golden Boy Promotions was interested in signing John Karl Sosa in a while, but had not materialized, and although John Karl had fought in Golden Boy Promotions shows, now he will do it as a Golden Boy Promotions fighter on December 6 in New York, ” said Peter Rivera, Vice-President of PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP), the company representing Sosa in Puerto Rico.

Sosa (11-0, 6 KOs), who trains at the Jose “Cheo” Aponte in Caguas with veteran trainers Orlando Piñero and Alex Caraballo, is a 22 year old fighter who made his professional debut in 2012 and in January 2014 was selected along with also undefeated young boxers, Felix Verdejo and Emmanuel Rodriguez, as the three best Puerto Rican prospects right now by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) in a vote of boxing journalists. The young fighter was also chosen by the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission as the 2012 Rookie of the Year and as the 2013 Most Improvement Boxer.

“I am very grateful with Oscar de la Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions, that is one of the most important promoters in the world. Now it’s a matter of doing my job and training hard to give my best in the ring,” Sosa said. “Thanks also to PRBBP because they have been with me ever since I became a professional, and we will continue together to become world champion.”

Sosa has three wins in 2014, two over his countrymen Antonio Sanchez and Victor Perez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on March and April, respectively, and the other one over Mexican Luis Bello in July at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On December 6, in New York, Sosa will face an opponent to be announced in the junior welterweight, six rounds.
