The Global Wrestling Championships, a first-of-its-kind elite wrestling event, is set to debut on November 22 live from Ithaca, NY, the promoters announced today. The unique format will feature a host of Olympic and Collegiate wrestling stars pared together with a chance to win $10,000 per match. The event will be streamed live and is available for fans of wrestling around the world for a nominal $6.95 fee. The Global Wrestling Championships will feature a best-of-five series with three minute bouts and freestyle rules.

“We’re trying to create an audience for the sport that hasn’t been there up to this point,” Global Wrestling Championships producer Wayne Boyd said. “When you put money in the mix, a prize and you put a belt that has some prestige, you get a wider audience base.”

NCAA Champion and three time All-American Tony Ramos is slated to wrestle four time All-American and 2012 Olympian Sam Hazewinkel for the flyweight title, Four-time NCAA champion Kyle Dake is scheduled to take on Andrew Howe for the welterweight crown and World University Gold Medalist and All-American Tyrell Fortune is set to tangle with 2012 Olympian and two-time NCAA Champion Tervel Dlagnev for the heavyweight belt.
