Mansour vs Kassi Heavyweight Explosion! Sands NBC Fight Card Preview & Mansour Media Workout Video

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Bethlehem, PA (November 4,2014)– Amir ‘Hardcore’ Mansour, a southpaw heavyweight knockout artist, puts his record on the line in the 10 round main event of a seven bout card presented by Russell Peltz Boxing Promotions, Kathy Duva Main Events, Brittany Rogers Bam Boxing, and German Titov Box Promotions, at Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 8, 2014, broadcast on USA NBC Sports Network. Mansour, 20-1 with 15 knockouts, Wilmington, Delaware, had former world cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham down twice in the fifth round, but lost a 10 round unanimous decision at Liacouras Center in Philadelphia this past April for the USBA title. Forgetting his bout with Cunningham, Mansour has a 75% knockout ratio, and aims to increase his impressive statistic against Camaroon veteran Fred Kassi. Mansour is a 12 round fighter! Kassi is not.

Kassi, now 18-2, 10 knockouts, fighting out of New Orleans, Louisiana, faces his greatest enemy in inactivity. Kassi scored a third round knockout over Shannon Caudle in New Orleans in his last ring appearance over a year ago in August 2013. While Kassi’s chin has proven sturdy through 20 professional bouts, Mansour has faced a higher quality level of opposition. Mansour is favored to win by knockout between rounds five through eight. Kassi cannot survive very long if he is taken into the later rounds by a quality fighter.

In the preliminary bout to the main event, 16-0 Russian light heavyweight Vasily ‘The Professor’ Lepikhin, is favored by early round stoppage over 15-1 Jackson Junior of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in what should prove to be an entertaining light heavyweight contest. Junior’s record is padded, including several victories over other questionable padded records of fighters such as 23-0 Petro Otas and 15-0-1 Marcus De Oliveira. Cuban Umberto Savigne exposed Junior in a four round stoppage at Turning Stone Casino this past March. A quality Peltz fighter like Lepikhin should not need as many rounds to dispose of Junior, who could get knocked out if his defense collapses too soon.

Undefeated welterweight 17-0 Dmitry ‘The Mechanic’ Mikhaylenko of Gelendzhik, Russia, is favored towin by 10 round unanimous decision over game 20-4 Ronald Cruz, a Puerto Rican fighting out of Bethlehem. In falling short of the mark, Cruz has lost 10 round decisions to Antwone Smith, Ray Narh, Kermit Cintron and Errol Spence. This is perhaps the last shot with Peltz for Cruz, who could still redeem himself at the crossroads if he knocks Mikhalenko out. Cruz has fought eight times in his hometown Sands Bethlehem Arena and knows the ring. He would need a superior game plan in his corner to upset a superior technical fighter such as Mikhaylenko. The bout should go the distance.

On the undercard, 5-0 local Easton welterweight southpaw Arturo Trujillo is favored by decision over Anthony Prescott. Trujillo stopped 4-4-1 Kevin Womack Jr. in his last bout in April. Prescott, 5-3, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, drew with Womack over four rounds this past July. The common opponent is the factor for picking Trujillo to win by six round decision. This close matchup could be the fight of the night, depending on how determined both men are to to win. 2-0 super bantamweight prospect Anthony Caramanno is favored to win by four round decision over 0-3 trialhorse Omar Carroll of Philadelphia. Russian super middleweight prospect Alexander Moskovsky, 1-0, is favored to win by four round decision over debuting Newark fighter Darren Troupe. 2-0 New Jersey southpaw welterweight prospect Nick Valliere, age 18, is favored to win by stoppage within four rounds over 1-6 Philadelphia trialhorse David Navarro.
