LEMIEUX VS. ROSADO PREVIEW
By Eliezer Garcia, RCM Boxing NY/NJ Correspondent
Brooklyn, NY– On Dec. 6, HBO will televise a tripleheader live from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY. The return of Philadelphia’s King Gabriel Rosado and the U.S debut of rising Canadian star David Lemieux. This 12 round main event will put Lemieux’s NABF Middleweight Title on the line against King Rosado. Golden Boy also included a middleweight bout between James De la Rosa and Hugo Centeno. A welterweight bout between hot prospect Frankie Gomez and Thomas Dulorme is in the works.
Lemieux (32-2, 30Kos) is a hard hitting contender in the middleweight division. He has fought on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights several times, but this will actually be his first time headlining an HBO triple header. The 25 year old is coming to Brooklyn to make a statement. Lemieux is coming off an impressive performance in a third round blowout of Fernando Guerrero in May 24. Oscar De la Hoya believes the winner of this bout could win a fight against Saul Canelo Alvarez.
“Lemieux is a very exciting fighter and a big puncher,” De La Hoya said. “We made a deal with him for this fight. He’s in an exciting weight class and the ultimate prize for anyone at 154 or 160 pounds is to face Canelo Alvarez, and David Lemieux fits into that picture perfectly. The guy comes at you like a Mack truck. We’re going to do some good things with him. He has a great record, amazing power and is a great looking kid.”
Gabriel Rosado (21-8,13Kos) of Philadelphia is no stranger to the boxing world. Although, he is 0-3 in his last 4 professional official boxing matches, Rosado is known for his heart and fighting the best. He gave both Peter Quillin and Gennady Golovkin great fights before being stopped due to cuts. On Aug 16, Rosado decided to take on a different type of challenge when he knocked out Bryan Vera in the main event of the first “Big Knockout Boxing” card. Rosado is a warrior, and fights against anyone. He will be looking to make a big statement on Dec 6, and once again be the talk of the Middleweight division.
Lemieux vs. Rosado is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Eye Of The Tiger Management and sponsored by Corona Extra, AT&T and Mexico – Live It To Believe It!.
