Las Vegas, NV (November 22, 2014)– HBO Live Boxing presents The Main Event, featuring former two-division world championTimothy “Desert Storm” Bradley battling Diego “La Joya” Chaves. This is scheduled to be a 12-round welterweight brawl. Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera vs. Jose Benaidez, Jr. the World Boxing Association (WBA) Interim Super Lightweight World Championship, takes place Saturday, December 13, inside The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The tripleheader will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing®, beginning at 10:00 p.m. EST/PST.
Highly anticipated undercard with evenly matched Southpaw’s Matt Korobov vs Andy Lee…
The most anticipated fight of the night and the most interesting by far, will undoubtedly be the evenly matched undercard battle, and another world title fight featuring top-rated contenders Matt Korobov and Andy Lee. They will be competing for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) World Championship. Korobov has been eluded by Peter Quillan who vacated the belt and an enormous payday and by Demetrius Andrade for reason eliciting much speculation and varied reasons.
Matt Korobov (24-0, 13 KOs), who is 31 years old and a 5’11”, was the 2008 Russian Olympian who had his first HBO televised fight which took place on June 28. Korobov won a unanimous decision over Jose Uzcategui winning the WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight title after sending Uzcategui to the canvas twice. Korobov, a six-year veteran of the pro ranks is currently world-rated No. 1 by the WBO.
Andy Lee (33-2 23 KOs), the 30 year old, 6’2”, represented Ireland as a Middleweight at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. His last fight in June yielded a KO against John Jackson although Lee did go down once in the 1st round.
