Boston, MA (October 30th, 2014)– Two former 155-pound title holders, Ben Henderson will face Eddie Alvarez at a UFC Fight Night event on Jan. 18 in Boston as the co-main event to Conor McGregor and Dennis Siver.

Henderson (21-4) is coming off a controversial first-round knockout loss to Rafael dos Anjos in August. Many people at ringside felt the knockout was a quick stoppage. It was the first knockout loss of his career.

Fighting out of Glendale, Ariz., Henderson won the UFC lightweight title in a unanimous decision against Frankie Edgar in February 2012. Henderson defended his title 3 times before losing the belt to Anthony Pettis in August 2013.

Alvarez (25-4) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC 178 in his UFC debut.  Alvarez who is a member of the Blackzilians in Florida, vacated the Bellator MMA lightweight title earlier this year when the promotion granted his unconditional release.
