WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO PULLS OUT OF FIGHT AGAINST KUBRAT PULEV
Berlin, Germany (August 25th, 2014)– The WBA, WBO, IBO and Ring World Heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, 38, (62-3, 52 Kos) had to withdraw from his championship fight this morning. The fight was scheduled to take against undefeated 33 year old, Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11Kos) in Germany on September 6. Klitschko suffered a torn left bicep during training. Klitschko’s manager said he will miss at least 4 weeks of training.
“He had problems on Friday and he first thought it’s a minor thing, but he went to the hospital near the camp [in Austria] and there they detected this torn muscle,” Bernd Boente who is Klitschko’s manager said. “He was in top shape and he had perfect sparring partners. He did a long preparation and is sorry to have to postpone the fight.”
“We hope to reschedule the bout in the same arena in mid-November, probably Nov. 15,” Boente said.
