Slick Michael Anderson versus Castaneda Parsippany Card Rescheduled for August
By Robert Brizel, Head RCM Boxing Correspondent
Welterweight contender Michael Anderson of Newark, New Jersey, will fight an eight rounder in the main event of a nine bout card in Parsippany, New Jersey, at the Parsippany Police Athletic League at 73 Baldwin Road, on August 9, 2014, promoted by Eddie Edmond of Edmond Promotions and Michael Daugherty of All Out Promotions. Noted matchmaker Michael Melendez has rescheduled the card. Three available slots are open for bid for interested parties who may call matchmaker Mike Melendez at 484-599-2457.
Anderson, 13-2-1, ten knockouts, was originally touted as a top prospect by Shane Mosley and Golden Boy. Losses to Nick Casal and Emmanuel Lartei-Lartey have sidetracked his career. Anderson last appeared in November 2013 when he scored an eight round split decision win over veteran George Sosa in Newark. His next opponent could present a significant roadblock, and Anderson must be prepared to do battle.
Anderson will face the rough tough and always dangerous Rogelio Castaneda Jr., 26-20-3 with eight knockouts, Sacramento, California. Castaneda, who has gone the distance with the likes of Demetrius Hopkins, Lamar Murphy, Ernest Johnson, Miguel Figueroa, Craig Weber Tomas Barrientes, Oscar Diaz, Dagoberto Najera, Eduardo Castillo and Juaquin Gallardo, James Crayton, Ricardo Sierra, Johnny West, Gustavo Tapia, Gerry Glasper, Jose Reynosa, and Jose Armando Santa Cruz, has a hardcore record of experience. Castaneda earned a No-Contest with top rated welterweight Lucas Martin Matthysse in 2008 when he was cut by an accidental head butt.
In confirmed preliminary bouts, cruiserweight Dave Valykeo will face Tracey Johnson; super middleweight Noel Godson, lightweight Bienvenido Diaz, and junior welterweight Frank Jordan will also appear in the card. Tickets starting at $40 are available by calling 862-766-0145. Doors open at 6 P.M., with the opening bell scheduled for 7 P.M.
