REMATCH READY TO GO!!!

RENTON’S MARCELLO GALLARDO VS.

VAN NUYS, CA JUAN FUNEZ

AUGUST 1 AT LITTLE CREEK CASINO RESORT

Sherman Oaks, CA (July 16, 2014) – It’s not too often fight fans are treated to a highly anticipated rematch between 4-round fighters but on Friday, August 1 just that will happen between two young featherweight prospects as local favorite MARCELLO GALLARDO of Renton, Washington will clash for the second time against Van Nuys, CA based JUAN “Johnnie” FUNEZ at “Little Creek Brawl V” from the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Washington and promoted by Goossen Promotions.

Headlining the ESPN Friday Night Fights presented by Corona Extra™ telecast is an outstanding 12-round light heavyweight clash between #4 WBO, #6 IBF and #9 WBC world ranked and undefeated light heavyweight contender THOMAS “Top Dog” WILLIAMS JR. and #10 IBF and former World Champion GABRIEL “El Chico Guapo” CAMPILLO.

The Williams-Campillo battle, promoted in association with Sampson Boxing, will be contested as an IBF Light Heavyweight Elimination bout for the #2 IBF world ranking and an NABO Championship bout televised live on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN beginning at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT.

The first battle, won by Funez via unanimous decision (38-37 on all three cards), took place on January 24 and was televised on ESPN Friday Night Fights from the same location in front of a standing room only crowd who were on their feet from the opening bell cheering the excellent two-way action by the fighters.

“Funez was down in the first and fought hard throughout the next three rounds against the aggressive, hometown favorite Gallardo. Fans at the Little Creek Casino Resort loved the fight,” said Dan Goossen. “Many thought Gallardo deserved the victory, including ESPN’s Teddy Atlas. When you have fans and media swayed both ways, the best way to alleviate controversy is to do it again.”

The 20-year-old Funez, now 5-0-0 (2 KOs), stayed undefeated with his successful return to action on April 24 with a solid fourth round stoppage of Sergio Najera in Rancho Mirage, California.

Gallardo, 3-1-1, followed up his battle with Funez fighting to a four round draw with undefeated hometown prospect Gary Salazar on May 17 in Fresno, California.

Advance tickets priced at $100, $50, $35 and $20 can be purchased by calling (800) 667-7711 or online at www.Little-Creek.com.
