Kherani Kessoon Interview: Rigondeaux Look alike Lightweight Prospect Wins Pro Debut

In a Real Combat Media exclusive, Jamaican American Guillermo Rigondeaux look alike lightweight prospect Kherani Kessoon sat down for an interview after he won his four round professional debut over Cesar Gonzales on May 17, 2014, at PacPlex Sports Complex in Brooklyn, New York. Kessoon was a New York City Golden Gloves tournament finalist. He is trained by Jesus Rivera, managed by Kevin Collins, and promoted by Sal Musumeci’s Final Forum Boxing.Kesson knocked down Gonzales twice in the first round, and won a unanimous decision with scores of 40-35, 40-35, and 39-36.
Real Combat Media: “How was your professional debut?”
Kherani Kessoon: “It was good!”
Real Combat Media: “Were you surprised your opponent got up twice in the first round?”
Kherani Kessoon: “No, I wasn’t surprised.”
Real Combat Media: “You boxed very patiently in your professional debut.”
Kherani Kessoon: “I used my jab. I saw the opening for the right (hand), so I threw the right hand.”
Real Combat Media: “In the next three rounds, Gonzales had a defense which was very tight.”
Kherani Kessoon: “He didn’t take chances.”
Real Combat Media: “Gonzales was not throwing very much.”
Kherani Kessoon: “Gonzales was throwing (punches) a little bit in the third round.”
Real Combat Media: “How often do you want to fight now?”
Kherani Kessoon: “I would like to fight every month. That would be good.”
Real Combat Media: “Where are you from? Where do you live with your family? What kind of work do you do?”
Kherani Kessoon: “When I am not fighting, I work for the Town of Hempstead. I was born in Jamaica. I have been living in Hempstead since 1980. I am married with two daughters.”
Real Combat Media: “What are your goals in boxing?”
Kherani Kesson: “I want to be the world champion. I want to hold a world title belt in two years. I am going to push myself, and I will work real hard to do that.”
