WBO SUPPORTS OFFICIALS APPOINTMENT FOR THE WELTERWEIGHT TITLE REMATCH BETWEEN TIMOTHY BRADLEY AND MANNY PACQUIAO ON APRIL 12, IN LAS VEGAS

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO- World Boxing Organization (WBO) president, Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel, supported the designation by the Nevada State Athletic Commission of the officials who will work in the rematch between the WBO welterweight champion, Timothy Bradley, and former champion Manny Pacquiao, on April 12, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a Top Rank presentation.

“I understand that the Nevada State Athletic Commission made the effort for the boxing fans have the confidence. This (the fight Bradley-Pacquiao) is an expected revenge and could be a candidate for Fight of the Year”, said Valcarcel, who will be the WBO supervisor of the fight. “I want to congratulate the Nevada Commission for their work”.

Bradley (31-0, 12 KOs) will defend for the third time the WBO 147 pounds belt he won with a split decision over Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) in a close fight on June 9, 2012, when the American fighter got the victory after judges Duane Ford and CJ Ross voted 115-113 for him, while Jerry Roth voted 115-113 for Pacquiao. All these judges are from Nevada.

For this time the only Nevada state judge is Glenn Trowbridge. The remaining judges are Michael Pernick from Florida, United States, and John Keane from United Kingdom.

“I can not attest to the work of John Keane, as he is not a member of the WBO, but the reports look satisfactory”, Valcarcel said of the British judge.

The referee of this fight will be Nevada’s Kenny Bayless.
