The Iron Rhino, Australian Heavyweight Michael Kirby, Wins Last Man Standing Tournament in Extra Round. Super 8 Heavyweight Tournament To Be Held June 2014.

Victoria, Australia (April 4th, 2014)– Australian tough guy heavyweight Michael Kirby, also known as ‘The Iron Rhino’, won the 2014 final of the Australian Last Man Standing Tournament at Melbourne Pavilion, in Flemington, Victoria, Australia, with a four round decision in a scheduled three over Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa, on April 3, 2014.

The final ended in a split draw after three rounds 28-28, 27-28, 28-27. By previous arrangement, a fourth round was fought to determine the tournament winner. Kirby won the fourth round 10-9 across the board to win the tournament outright.
Kirby, 38 years old, Sydney, Australia, now 14-4, eight knockouts, stopped Nathan Briggs in three rounds, and stopped TafaMisapati in two rounds, to reach the final. Tuivasa, now 3-1, two knockouts, St. Mary’s, Australia, won by first round disqualification over Brett smith after a headbutt, and stopped unbeaten Willie Nasio in the first round to reach the final.
News is out that a Heavyweight Super 8 Tournament will be held at The Trusts Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, on June 4, 2014. Heavyweights already agreeing to participate include: Hasim Rahman, Michael Sprott, Martin Rogan, Kali Meehan, and Samuel Peter. Rahman and Peter are both former world heavyweight champions. Rahman and Meehan have faced each other previously. Rahman stopped Meehan in four rounds in November 2004.
