Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s Career Could be in Jeopardy If the Recent Criminal Allegations are True: When The Greatest Danger in Losing To Yourself

By Robert Brizel, Head RCM Boxing Correspondent

New York, NY (March 13th, 2014)– The late world middleweight champion, Carlos Monzon of Argentina, won his last eighty consecutive bouts, and defended his world title 14 times in seven years. Monzon had a child with Uruguayan model Alicia Muniz. In 1988, after a physical fight, Monzon threw Muniz to her death by throwing her off a balcony, then jumping himself. He was found guilty of homicide and received an 11 year sentence. Monzon died in January 1995.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has won 45 consecutive bouts. The news has just broke alleging
Floyd orchestrated an attack on two of his Las Vegas house workers he suspected of
stealing jewelry according to TMZ. Floyd’s men broke the arms and legs of the two men, and beat them up with clubs and other weapons. The men did not die, but Floyd could be charged with kidnapping, assault and attempted murder if this story is true. Considering how the book has been thrown at athletes like O.J. Simpson and the late Michael Dokes in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather’s WBA and WBC World Welterweight title defense against Marcos Rene Maidana scheduled for May 3, 2014, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, may be in jeopardy.

In 2002, Floyd received a six month suspended sentence for domestic violence. In 2004, got a one year suspended sentence and paid a $1000 fine for two counts of misdemeanor
battery against two women . In 2005, Floyd, Floyd pleaded no contest to misdemeanor
battery after kicking a bouncer, and received a 90 day suspended jail sentence. In 2011,
Floyd served 90 days in the county jail for battery upon his ex-girlfriend, after pleading no
contest to two counts of misdemeanor harassment, completing a 12 month domestic
violence program and fined $2500. These incidents are ‘small change’ compared to now.

Floyd’s involvement in the latest reported incident of domestic violence remains only an
allegation at present. It may or may not be true in all or part. The charges Floyd would
face now would not far more serious than in the past. Two counts of attempted murder and kidnapping and assault are enough to put Floyd away for a long time. How long? Long
enough so that the late heavyweight champion’s Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record will
probably not be in jeopardy for many decades to come. The best possible outcome is Floyd
will be found innocent.

The worst possible outcome is Floyd is found guilty and his career is then over, leaving
Maidana to perhaps fight a rematch with Amir Khan or Adrien Broner. If Floyd is
arrested, it also puts the potential long awaited mega bout between Floyd and Manny
Pacquiao at risk. Pacquiao hopes for Floyd if he beats Timothy Bradley in their upcoming
rematch, and Radley hopes for Floyd if he beats Pacquiao again.

Real Combat Media will provide updates on this story if charges are filed.
